A credentialed parliamentarian has the knowledge and competency to assist your organization in achieving effective meetings, while also protecting the rights of members. There are two national organizations that credential parliamentarians.
Why hire a credentialed parliamentarian?
American Institute of Parliamentarians (AIP)
Certified Professional Parliamentarian
A candidate for the Certified Professional Parliamentarian credential must be a Certified Parliamentarian, must obtain a minimum score of 90% on an oral examination, and must earn an additional 30 service points in areas such as parliamentary education, service to AIP, and parliamentary services.
The examination will be conducted in the presence of an audience of AIP members by three examiners who are themselves Certified Professional Parliamentarians.
The examination will consist of two parts. One part will test parliamentary theory and the ability of the candidate to explain concepts and procedures to an assembly. The other part will be a presiding demonstration.

National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP)
Professional Registered Parliamentarian
To obtain the Professional Registered Parliamentarian (PRP) credential, a parliamentarian must have already achieved the Registered Parliamentarian credential and complete a Professional Qualifying Course. This credential is based exclusively on mastery of Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised.

Why hire a parliamentary lawyer?
A parliamentary lawyer has the legal and parliamentary background to assist your organization in ensuring that fiduciary, governance, and procedural expectations are being followed. A parliamentary lawyer does not have to be licensed in your state to assist you in providing an exceptional experience. Most parliamentary lawyers work alongside with your in-house counsel to navigate complex situations.
American College of Parliamentary Lawyers (ACPL)
The American College of Parliamentary Lawyers (APCL) does not credential lawyers or parliamentarians; however, its membership is limited to only licensed attorneys that are credentialed by either AIP or NAP. Currently, there are less than 50 lawyers in the entire country that are members of ACPL.
